Ranks and Responsibilities

It is important to establish and determine exactly what kind of responsibility is required to attain certain ranks within our fleet.  Here are the guidelines so you may progress through the ranks.  Promotions can be done by any Senior Officer from Captain and up.  It is important to know that some of these positions include some responsibilities beyond that of just playing the game.  If you think you could be of help please feel free to talk to a Senior Officer to be put into consideration for promotion.  Lastly, if you wish to be a member you will be expected to have the ability of voice communication via Mumble as most meetings will be held in our Mumble voice server.

Re-Vamping the Fleet!

Hey everyone!

To those just joining us, welcome! We are going to be re-vamping the fleet by trying to invite a bunch of new people.  If you could try to promote the fleet and invite people that you know and enjoy playing with that would help a great deal!  Everyone has invite permissions so everyone can do it!

We have a couple rules that we adhere to when in-game:

1. You must be 18+ to join the fleet.
2. Be respectful
3. Help the fleet grow.
4. Adult language is allowed
5. Participate when possible in Fleet Actions & events
6. Ability to use voice communications
To get ahead in the fleet you must participate actively, donate to fleet projects, and follow all the above rules.

Thanks!

Misc Tips

While talking with some members tonight in fleet chat, it became apparent that everyone may have tips they've found to make game-play a little easier. So, if you have something you think might help others, please comment here!

My first comment/tip is in regard to making space...
  • You can email yourself, even across factions, so use mail to store things temporarily.
  • Your BOFFs can hold various things. If you're collecting a lot while out on missions and need some room, see if your BOFFs can carry some items for you temporarily. You'll probably end up with some extra BOFFs or BOFF slots, too, so put them to use for you!
  • You can also mail BOFFs to yourself. Just drag them from the BOFF list of candidates into mail.
Oh, and another note: Did you ever try to get items attached to mail while you're out in space and find you can't do it? Go to a mailbox location and open mail there. It's at an actual mailbox that you'll be able to take attachments from mail messages.

So, what are YOUR tips?

Special Items

Don't forget to get your Phoenix ship pet at Utopia Planitia for "First Contact Day." Go to the location of Sol system and choose to enter "Utopia Planitia" instead of "Sol System." It's quick -- just talk to everyone and you'll have your own Phoenix! Note that this is only available until April 9, so don't delay! See more info here: http://startrekonline.com/node/3045

And, have you gotten your IDIC tribble? It's available at Earth Spacedock in the corner of the hallway outside Club 47. Official STO info here: http://www.startrekonline.com/node/3021 and here's some interesting information about how to make really great use of this tribble by giving it to Bridge Officers on ground missions: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=263666. I cannot find any information about when the tribbles will no longer be available, but it began on April 2, so it might be a good idea to get yours as soon as you're able.

There is also a Zen/Cryptic Points promotion going on until April 8. You can find information here: http://www.startrekonline.com/node/3058

And, lastly for today, here's some good information about using duty officers and the interior of your ship: http://www.startrekonline.com/node/2959. Notice too, the info about "turning in five underperforming duty officers, plus a modest amount of Dilithium, for a random duty officer of the next highest quality."

Genl News 2012.04.07

2012.04.07 Our Apr 6 meeting was very fruitful, and it seemed everyone enjoyed meeting fellow members. It was decided to make minor changes to our fleet uniform, and it will be required at some fleet events. You can change the undershirt color to that of your career, but please keep the color recognizable. You can also use your own rank designation and choose the comm badge you prefer. You should also be sure to include the fleet emblem (on all uniforms). All other parts/features of the uniform should remain as they are. We've also gotten our FIFTH fleet bank tab! WOOHOO, TFG: KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! Our first fleet contest is also now underway. If you don't know the details, check our website, or ask other TFG members. Remember to check and sign up for events! And, most importantly, recent promotions to Senior Chief: Chaniki, Iohillen, Joe, Knebow, Luke, Sarok, T'Remberale, X-Ray... Grats to you all!

Dilthium Mining Event & Upcoming Fleet Meeting

Previous Fleet Event Attendees: Todd, Ender, Five, Iohillen
(Not Shown: Connor, Chaniki)

First off I just wanted to say thank you for all who participated in the Dilithium Mining fleet event!  We had lots of fun running around on that asteroid learning the in's & out's of getting the most bang for your buck when mining, as well as the sweet dance party afterwards!

In case you haven't been looking at the roster lately, we have grown quite a bit since we started and hope to continue in the future.  We plan on having a Fleet meeting to discuss the direction of our Fleet as well as upcoming events, notifying members of promotions, and finding out what our next steps as a Fleet are.  Please try your best to attend the meeting this Friday April 6th, 2012 at 8:00 PM (central time) and we can begin our discussions.

We appreciate all everyone has done so far with the fleet when it comes to interacting in Fleet chat, forming groups to play together, and inviting your friends to join us so we can grow as a gaming community.  Keep up the good work!

Fleet Events

Previous Fleet Event Attendees: Todd, Ender, Connor

Why did you join a fleet? To play by yourself? No, of course not!

We are going to be hosting Fleet Events to get members together to go on missions, PvP (play vs player), STF's, and play mini-games.

Please be sure to check out the Events tab (Ctrl-G then Events tab) on a regular basis so you can be aware of upcoming events and RSVP to them. These can be very fun with a lot of people so the more people we get to play at once, the better!

So far we have only seen a small handful respond to the Fleet Events, but I hope to see that change once we recruit more members to the Fleet. If you have any questions or want to suggest an idea for an event please send me a private message or email in-game.

I hope to see you at one of the upcoming Fleet Events!

Starfleet Academy Trivia

Mailed (in-game) to Fleet members on 2012.03.10: Starfleet Academy Trivia

In case you don't know about it yet and you have trouble with the Academy history questions, here's your "cheat sheet" ; ] .... http://www.stowiki.org/Lore ... TFG's bank is open now, too. Everyone can deposit and withdraw, with limits depending on fleet rank (of course), but there are already some things in there, so take a look if you need something, and deposit if you are able. ... I hope we can all do some missions together soon, and we'll try to get together this Saturday (Mar 10) at the cave on Risa.

Who We Are

"1966 The First Generation" (TFG) is a Starfleet Command fleet on the Holodeck shard of Star Trek Online (http://www.startrekonline.com/). TFG was formed on 2012.03.06, and our recruiting message is as follows:
Everyone is welcomed (family, friends, any young people), but this fleet is particularly for those who grew up watching The Original Series when it first aired and who continued watching as each new Trek series came and went. The rules: be respectful, have fun, and help the fleet grow. Some events will be planned, and when/if it becomes available, we'll work toward getting our own TFG starbase, but you're adults -- if you need help or want to get something going, just say so!
The Fleet Admiral of TFG
is the female liberated Borg (level 50) tactical officer
known as Five of Eight.
The XO of TFG
is the male Betazoid  (level 50) science officer
who goes by the name of Ender.

This web presence for TFG is being implemented on 2012.03.26, so the first few posts will be for reference and archival of older in-game mail messages sent to the fleet. We do not plan to post here every day, but we will make information available here of any important tips (for missions, gear acquisition, etc.), TFG events that are scheduled, and TFG contests that are occurring!

If you're a member of the TFG fleet, you're welcomed to comment or ask questions here, and if you're not a member, you're welcomed to join us, as we battle the Borg, Klingons, Romulans, Devidians, the Undine (species 8472/the Fluidians), and any others who would threaten peace and cooperation.
